About this recipe

It is a superb dark porter with a hint of caramel red colour in the background. It derives its smokey character from our blend of crushed grains which includes Smoked Rauch malt. The smoke character is not overpowering and blends beautifully with generous helpings of malt and gentle hop bitterness. You will also note a hint of coffee / caramel / chocolaty tones and absolutely delicious first class ale.

We pay homage to one of the great modern day Porters. We have had this beer rated by senior professional brewers and publicans and they all tell us it is right up there with the best.

A 'Boorishly' Bold Porter, inspired by the 'best from the west', Feral Brewery. A  whack of Smoked (Rauch) malt, plus Maris Otter, Caramel & Chocolate malt. The finest in German noble hops, & a top quality English ale yeast. This is no ham-fisted brew, a partial mash is reqd. Put it all together & you'll brew a fantastic drop that has already impressed a host of heavyweight industry types. Only available commercially on tap & rarely on the east coast.

No specialised equipment required although we recommend you use a strainer bag which are also available here
