The details
Top Shelf Chocolate Cream Liqueur is a 50ml Still Spirits Top Shelf liqueur flavouring. With a Cream Liqueur Base (400g) and 40% ABV neutral spirit or vodka it makes 1.125 litres of finished liqueur. Still Spirits describes it as "Full bodied with notes of creamy double chocolate."
What it tastes like
A thick, creamy double chocolate liqueur in the style of a chocolate cream. It pours like a dessert and works over ice, in coffee, or over ice cream.
How to make it
Mix the 400g Still Spirits Cream Liqueur Base into 220ml of hot water, add this flavouring, then 500ml of 40% ABV neutral spirit or vodka, and top up to 1.125 litres with water. Keep it in the fridge once made. It is ready to pour the same day.
The spirit can be bought vodka or your own neutral spirit off an Air Still Pro or Turbo 500. Because a liqueur is sweet, it is more forgiving of a base spirit than a straight vodka essence is, but a carbon-filtered spirit still gives a cleaner result.
When to choose this one
Choose this over the Creme de Cacao when you want a cream liqueur rather than a clear one. It needs the Cream Liqueur Base, not Base A, B or C, and it uses less spirit (500ml) than the clear liqueurs because the base carries the body. The full set is on the Top Shelf essences collection.
